Zainab is about 2 years and 5 months old. Her father, Bashir Ahmed Bhat is a teacher in Kupwara ( Jammu & Kashmir) and earns about Rs.5000 per month His mother is a housewife. She has 2 siblings. Zainab is an active and playful child but due to a defect in his heart, he is unable to play like other children.
When Zainab was about 6 months old, she had cold & cough and had difficulty breathing. Her family took her to the local hospital where an Echo test was taken and she was diagnosed with hole in her heart. The doctor advised them against a surgery and assured them that the hole would heal by itself. But when problem of breathing and fever continued, the family took Zainab to G.B. Pant Children Hospital at Srinagar. A second echo confirmed the hole in her heart and this time the doctor recommended a surgery. Dr. Ahmed Bashir of GB Pant Hospital, referred the case to Social worker who approached Fortis Foundation for help.
In June 2018, Zainab was brought to Fortis memorial Research Institute in Gurugram. He was successfully treated by Dr. Vijay Agarwal and his team. His surgery was supported by Fortis Foundation and Radha Mohan Mehrotra Memorial Research Trust.
